What is an ignition interlock device?
An ignition interlock is a breath alcohol detector installed into your motor vehicle to prevent you from drinking and driving. You will have to pass a breath test before being able to start your vehicle.
If your breath registers under the allowed alcohol limit then your vehicle will start. Periodically, while the vehicle is in use, the ignition interlock device will require a breath test to ensure you are still sober and able to drive.
An ignition interlock program is a tool that provides you with safety and a chance at redemption, which allows revoked or suspended drivers to maintain gainful employment, and can be a big help toward addressing a drinking problem.
